Hat tip to Venkatesh Rao
“So he threw off his beggars’ cloak, jumped up, and made his way to Jesus. Jesus said to him, “What do you want me to do for you?” The man replied, “My Master, please, let me see again!””
Mark 10:50-51 TPT
Q. How would you describe yourself to someone?
A. Beyond Weird
I know it seems like a joke
A blind man hiding in his cloak
Why would he have to play games
To not see others see his shames?
Yet I share his predicament
With my own lack of real discernment
My weirdness the cloak where I hide
To unsee how THEY see inside
I pretend authenticity
Without true vulnerability
Denying the actual goal
Of sharing with others my soul
So with Bartimaeus I cry
Please open my closed social eye
That with others I may conform
Child-likely to Christ’s holy norm
Today I will embrace
The new normal
Of us all becoming Christ
