6/10 Poem: Demon-Straight

Published by

Today I embrace
the worst of this world
So I can face
the worst inside me
And take them both
straight to the cross

If we want a world
That is free from hate
Then followers of Christ
Must Him demonstrate

It’s easy to see
The sins of our foes
And to blame them
For all of our woes

Children of Law
Have no better course
But that’s just because
They’re missing the Source

The power of the cross
The blood Jesus shed
Turns Law upside-down
To give Grace instead

Those who would hurt me
Are really my friends
For when I’m crucified
I fulfill God’s ends

And those evil spirits
That infect the world
If I’m to defeat them
Must from me be hurled

So this is the message
God sent me to bring
As I purge my demons
Your freedom will ring

But when the Pharisees heard this, they said, “Only by Beelzebul, the prince of demons, does this man drive out demons.”
Matthew 12:24
