5/29 Poem: Lamp (Under) Stand

“No one lights a lamp and then covers it with a bowl or hides it under a bed.
A lamp is placed on a stand, where its light can be seen by all who enter the house.
For all that is secret will eventually be brought into the open, and everything that is concealed will be brought to light and made known to all.
So pay attention to how you hear.
To those who listen to my teaching, more understanding will be given.
But for those who are not listening, even what they think they understand will be taken away from them.

Luke‬ ‭8‬:‭16‬-‭18‬ ‬‬

There’s something we must understand
If we want a life that is grand
And that is we must face the fright
Of seeing our darkness in light

We all have our shadows and lies
That often take us by surprise
Our minds, to ensure we subsist
Deny that they even exist

The outcome of this camouflage
Is subconscious self-sabotage
As parts within us make war
Fighting to choose what we’re for

But if want Christ as our champ
We must let Him lift our lamp
Revealing what lurks in the dark
Is really our life-giving ark!

The hidden woes we once denied
Are actually gifts from inside
Those wounds become faucets that flow
With grace to help me (and you) grow

So let Jesus love lift us higher
As His light lit us like a fire
To burn away darkness and sin
For when we lose shame, we all win

Today I will not shy
From the burning light
